Roy Leban

Roy is lead inventor for Zetta Research’s Search portfolio. An expert at building highly usable and highly scalable software and technology-based systems, Roy’s experience and expertise encompass everything from user experience and user interface design to architecture, algorithms, and implementation. Roy has shipped more than twenty commercial products and services, including groundbreaking products in desktop productivity, word processing, tablet computers, web publishing, and educational software. Roy has eleven patents and another dozen pending. He is currently the founder of Puzzazz, a puzzle technology company. Prior to this, Roy was the founder or principal employee at seven previous startup companies, including ones sold to Ashton-Tate, AT&T, and the Charter Fund. Roy has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Kansas and did graduate work in Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Ian Maxwell

Ian is lead inventor for Zetta Research’s RPO portfolio. Based in Sydney, Australia, Ian has over 20 years of patent experience and is an inventor of over 70 patent families in a wide variety of fields of practice. Ian has been a partner of 2 venture capital funds. He has founded 7 start-ups where he has raised more than $100m in capital as CEO, as well as co-founding Australia’s first patent brokerage. He has also been the head of technology for two global corporations, and an academic at the University of Sydney and the TUE, Netherlands. Ian is also an adjunct Professor at the RMIT University in the School of Computer and Electrical Engineering. He has a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Sydney. He has studied business at Harvard, IMD and the AGSM at the University of NSW.

Dr. Brian Bartholomeusz

Brian is the lead inventor for Zetta Research’s AQT portfolio. He is an expert in thin film technology and products and has over 25 years of International techno-commercial experience. His focus has been in the development and commercialization of new products for the consumer electronics and renewable energy segments. He has founded three startups with one successful IPO exit and currently is involved in launching two new ventures. He has facilitated numerous successful cross-border JV’s, technology partnerships and collaborative technology & product development programs. Brian was a member of the technical teams in Japan that developed the DVD & Blu-ray format specifications. He has fourteen granted or pending patents. Brian has a PhD in Materials Engineering from Stanford and a BA in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University.

Murgesh Navar

Murgesh is lead inventor for Zetta Research’s Volomedia portfolio. He was the Founder & CEO of Volomedia, which developed technology to enable advertisements to be dynamically inserted into downloadable audio and video, such as podcasts. He is currently Founder and CEO of BuyFi, a mobile app on iPhone and Android which allows the discovery and ordering from menus, and redeeming nearby deals. He was Manager, Technical & Business Development, at Liberate Technologies, a start-up resulting from a collaboration between Netscape and Oracle focused on interactive television which deployed to millions of homes in the US, UK and Australia. Prior to this, he held various technical and management positions at SGI. Murgesh has a MS in Computer Science from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
