Marina Len

Marina is currently lead patent prosecutor on Zetta Research’s Search portfolio. She was Director of Intellectual Property at Halcyon Molecular, where she managed its patent portfolio. Prior to joining Halcyon, Marina was an associate at Davis Wright Tremaine in San Francisco, and at Ropes & Gray LLP in New York and Washington, DC. Marina has a JD from Vanderbilt Law School, and both an MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a BS in Microbiology from the University of California Santa Barbara.

John Mattingly

John is currently lead patent prosecutor on two of Zetta Research’s portfolios (RPO and AQT) and assisted in the development of the OQO portfolio, which was acquired in 2011. He is the co-founder of Mattingly & Malur, an intellectual property firm located in Alexandria, VA. Mattingly & Malur have worked together for more than 15 years. The corporation has a wide variety of expertise in various technical fields and is focused on providing high quality services in the patent, trademark and copyright areas. John has a J.D. from Northern Virginia Law School and a B.S., Mechanical Engineering, from University of Maryland.

Kim Rubin

Kim Rubin

Kim is currently lead patent prosecutor on Zetta Research’s ForC portfolio, an incubator for various patents in process, including several in the area of driverless vehicles. Kim has spent the past 35 years developing and protecting technology in software, electronics, networking, cryptography, optics and web-based businesses. From 2005-2009 Kim was a CxO in Residence, assisting start-ups and mature companies in IP strategy, patent creation, business focus, business planning, and sales improvement. Prior to this, Kim co-founded and was CTO of Patient Safe Solutions, which created a system to verify correct medication at hospitals. The system has prevented 17 million medication errors and is installed in over 80 hospitals. He was Group CTO, SBS Technology (NASDAQ:SBSE) (1998-1999), where he provided corporate valuation and Intellectual Property development for proposed mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Kim has a EE/CS Degree from U.C. Berkeley.

Colby Springer

Colby is currently an advisor to Zetta Research. He is a partner at Lewis & Roca LLP in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. He has experience in all fields of intellectual property law and advises clientele at every level of business development — from start ups to public companies. Colby counsels clients on the strategic development, acquisition, and enforcement of intellectual property portfolios, specifically with regard to patents. His representation includes a number of companies in patent, trade secret, copyright and antitrust suits. Colby also provides counsel to various clients on interference and re-examination proceedings before the United States Patent Office as a part of an overall intellectual property strategy. He was included as a 2011 Northern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers and named a 40 Under 40 honoree in 2007 by the San Jose Business Journal. Colby has a J.D., Santa Clara University, and a B.A., Government and International Relations, and History, University of Notre Dame.
